Thank you very much for your feedback. I do feel hopeful and trustful again :-)
I will then be installing a fresh copy on a newly installed vm.
Keep your thumbs.  In the meantime I'm also decided to study Perl that I may contribute as soon as possible.  The tutors I worked through is very easy so far.
