error running freeside-setup <username>

Hello,I downloaded the freeside v.1.5.0pre6 and during
installation, I run the command 

freeside-setup <some_username>

Quite a few tables are created before I get the error:

DBD::Pg::st execute failed: ERROR:  invalid byte
sequence for encoding "UNICODE": 0xed6f73 at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/FS/Record.pm line 654.
ERROR:  invalid byte sequence for encoding "UNICODE":
0xed6f73 at /usr/local/bin/freeside-setup line 267.


I am running postgresql version 8.0 on a redhat 9
system. 

Any suggestions?
