Done all that.

I can add users from the main FS interface, billing, mailing of invoices 
etc all work. All by reading the manual and trolling the mailing list 
archives. I have tried hard not to make noise on the list.

Yes, I missed setting billing methods for the signup server in the main 
config but I eventually found it hence the second posting.

The primary issue appears to be not being able to select a package when 
a new user is first added, only after. Whether I have missed something 
in the configs or broken something in the installation I will probably 
know after fiddling for another week.

I have just started a clean install from scratch which leads to another 
question, probably the only question I should have asked. Which release 
to use? I would have thought the stable release but looking at the 
change logs some of the fixes appeared substantial so I went for 
1.4.1beta7 which was the most current at the time? I open to correction 
after all I'm only dumb tech.
