Converting passwd to freeside

Hello,

Whenever I try to use svc_acct.import I get the follwing error message:

Read on closed filehandle <USERS> at ./svc_acct.import line 143.
Use of uninitialized value at ./svc_acct.import line 182.
Use of uninitialized value at ./svc_acct.import line 182.
Use of uninitialized value at ./svc_acct.import line 184.
Use of uninitialized value at ./svc_acct.import line 184.
Illegal username at ./svc_acct.import line 228, <PASSWD> chunk 1.

I have read the archives extensively so as not to repeat anything
which might have been entered earlier.
I searched and what I found helped me reach this far but I can't go any 
further.

The particulars are:
OS: RedHat 6.2
Perl: Version 5.005_03 buil for i386-linux
Database Engine: Version 11.12 Distrib 3.23.32, for pc-linux-gnu (i686)

Please help.
