Base.pm problem?

We are installing Freeside 1.1.6 (Linux 2.0.35, Perl 5.005_02, patched
Base.pm). 

We cannot add a customer, nor service/agent (no number of service/agent)
into a new environment - getting "illegal (numeric) typenum" messages.
In our Apache error log we get plenty of messages of the following type:

Can you advice me on this issue, please?
