Changing "user number"

Hey Ivan,

I see you're flipping through the list today. I posted a question about
making the customer numbers match our old database a few days ago. It's
been pointed out that I can't do it from Freeside if I'm moving accounts
over manually. Will I break anything if I manually change the field in the
DB after adding a customer?

Is it possible to add code (me, not you) to make that field editable?
