Reserved Usernames

Is there any way to reserve certain usernames without adding them all to 
freeside, i.e. a conf file that lists certain names that people can't sign 
up as (root, freeside).  This way, for simplicity, my mail server doesn't 
get confused by attempts to add root e-mail addresses.  Maybe I'm crazy.
