Thank you for your help in advance,

After reading the htdocs/config.html I set up my mapsecrets file in
/usr/local/etc/freeside/
#more mapsecrets
DBI:mysql:freeside
freeside passwd
#ls -l mapsecrets
-rw------- 1 root wheel 38 Apr 3 16:18 mapsecrets
#tail /var/log/httpd/error_log
[Mon Apr 3 16:19:02 2000] cust_main.cgi: User not found in mapsecrets!
at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/FS/UID.pm line 220, <DATA> chunk
239.

User authentication is enabled and I am logging on as freeside and using
the same passwd which is in the mapsecrets and also the
/usr/local/etc/freeside/htpasswd file.

#more /home/freeside/public_html/htdocs/.htaccess
AuthName freeside
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /usr/local/etc/freeside/htpasswd
require valid-user
I am able to log in with no problem

I am using Apache Suexec.
#tail /var/log/httpd/suexec_log

I have tried to do everthing possible on my end before wasting your
time, so I apologize for the long email and for the possibility of it
being a stupid human error on my part.
I am running FreeBSD 3.4 with Apache1.3.12 mod_ssl built from the source
but not from the Freebsd ports collection.

Thank You,
David DeTinne
