The problem is libev-perl (EV).  Uninstall it.

Note that our Debian packages conflict with libev-perl for this reason.


FYI, libnet-mac-vendor-perl from our repo is patched to use a local copy 
of the data, so MAC lookups are more reliable with our package than 
native Debian or CPAN install.  The site Net::MAC::Vendor uses for 
online lookups has been particularly flaky lately.
