Rather than create a separate module, may I suggest that the standard 
CyberSource module should (eventually) use the SOAP API rather than the 
cybs.pm vendor module?  Seems better than depedning on non-free XS code.  

The new module would have to be a completely transparent drop-in 
replacement first, of course, supporting everything the current module 
does including the new failure_status stuff.

How about: check this into a public repository the both old and new API 
developers have access to, and release it as a development version of 
B:OP:CyberSource (say, 2.99_01).  Going forward, everyone can work on 
merging the non-API specific code from the current version.  Also can 
put the t/ directory from the current version in there and extend it to 
make sure the new version is ready before it gets released as stable.

I can offer space in the CVS repository where B:OP and my gateway 
modules live, but don't let me stop you guys if you want to use 
a VC system from this millenium.  :)
